So nice to meet so many local residents (and tourists) this morning in the town. I teamed up with old iEDA friends John Loudoun and Marianne Rixson to have a very pleasant and productive time chatting to people over such subjects among others as central government funding for local governments (woeful cuts), roads and potholes (remember that is a Devon County Council aka Cllr Hughes issue), the Beach Management Plan, what is there to do for youth in the area, housing issues and the Knowle.
John is running as an Independent in Sidmouth Rural ward (encompassing Sidbury right down the east of the river to the seafront at East Beach) and Marianne has changed to Libdems for Sidford ward (which runs right down past Woolbrook to a border with Alexandria Road/Arcot Road and right down to Lawn Vista).
Whilst we aren’t in the independent East Devon Alliance together any more, we are very much ready to work together again in the Democratic Alliance v2 if we get the opportunity. Both Marianne and John are hugely hard-working, committed, ethical people who I am proud to call friends as well as respected colleagues.
